Position Summary

The Gary Sinise Foundation is looking for a Corporate & Community Relation Manager to join our Development Team. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Corporate and Community Relations Manager serves as a key, senior member of the Gary Sinise Foundation’s fundraising team. Primary responsibilities include identifying, cultivating, and soliciting corporate major gifts ($25K+), with a focus on six- and seven-figure contributions; negotiating corporate partnerships; building current relationships to expand investment in the Foundation; and stewarding corporate partners and donors. The Corporate and Community Relations Manager shares in the financial goal of the development team. Over the course of the Campaign for America’s Heroes, the manager will be responsible for growing the existing program to generate $8.5M annually by 2027.

The Corporate and Community Relations Manager also oversees the community relations program. Primarily, the program coordinates and stewards peer-to-peer fundraising at the Gary Sinise Foundation, leveraging technology platforms like Classy, Facebook, Tiltify, and others to empower grassroots giving. Community relations and peer-to-peer fundraising play an increasingly key role in corporate relations, as well, providing avenues for employee engagement with corporation’s philanthropy. The manager mentors and supervises the corporate and community relations senior coordinator and oversees the strategic direction of community relations to maintain alignment with the corporate relations program.

Additional responsibilities include liaising with the Gary Sinise Foundation’s marketing and communications team and serving as prospect manager for corporate partners in executive leadership and the Director of Development’s portfolios.

The position may be permanently remote or in-office in Woodland Hills, California. Travel to meet with major gift prospects and donors, to staff programmatic events, and other business may be required. Additional travel to the office in Woodland Hills, California, may be required if working permanently remotely.

Salary Range: $75k - $90k

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead, direct, and support the Gary Sinise Foundation’s comprehensive corporate engagement/partnership program to enhance relationships with corporate partners.
  • Supervise the daily operation of the Corporate & Community Relations team. Mentor and coach the Corporate and Community Relations Senior Coordinator towards professional advancement.
  • Serve as Gary Sinise Foundation’s subject matter expert on all current and potential corporate gifts and partnerships. Ensure up to date knowledge of relevant philanthropic news and trends in corporate giving.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate gifts and/or partnerships of $25K+, focusing on six- and seven-figure contributions. Proactively identify and research new and promising national, regional, and local corporate partners.
  • Participate in the strategic refinement and enhancement of Gary Sinise Foundation’s corporate and community strategy in partnership with the Director of Development to meet the Campaign for America’s Heroes goal of generating $8.5M annually by 2027.
  • Provide ongoing prospect management for corporate and/or community partners in executive leadership and Director of Development’s portfolios.
  • Collaborate with Gary Sinise Foundation program teams to develop ways to engage corporate partners in a comprehensive way.
  • Liaise regularly with the marketing and communications team to ensure partnership deliverables are realized on deadline. Review and approve corporate and community partner recognition for Foundation-produced assets. Request and gain the marketing team’s approval of partner-produced assets.
  • Model proper data entry and management protocols in Salesforce and other team databases. Ensure all activities and correspondence related to corporate and community funders are accurately captured in Salesforce.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Proven ability to lead people and projects, including well-developed organizational skills, project management capabilities, and a collaborative work style.
  • Must be a problem-solver with a “can do” attitude and the ability to prioritize multiple projects. An entrepreneurial mindset and comfort with a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment will be successful.
  • Persuasive in conversation and writing and able to speak passionately about the impact the Gary Sinise Foundation has on our nation’s defenders, their families, and those in need.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office 365 suite, including OneDrive, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent listening skills and willingness to serve others.
  • Understanding of non-profit marketing and communications best practices to facilitate partnership deliverables when needed.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce non-profit service pack or other development databases/CRMs or confidence to learn new software quickly.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with diverse personalities in a tactful, mature, and professional manner.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience and education
  • At least four years of proven experience in cultivating and soliciting six-figure corporate gifts, including holding key relationships with corporate donors.
  • Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Non-Profit Success Pack is a plus.
  • Management experience is a plus but not required.

COVID-19 considerations:

Currently we are primarily working remote with the number of employees in the office on an as needed basis, with HR and leadership monitoring office capacity based on Los Angeles County and CDC recommendations. All staff are required to wear masks/face coverings when in office and adhere to the 6’ social distancing guidelines. Our COVID-19 plan, policy, and procedure will be continually evaluated to make changes as needed based on health guidelines and executive directives.

Relocation:

This position is located in the Los Angeles County, relocation expenses will not be provided.
