JOB DESCRIPTION
Washington Families for Freedom (WFF) is a coordinated ballot measure campaign coalition seeking motivated part-time regional field organizers to work on a nationally significant campaign against two harmful statewide ballot measures that would take away protections for all students and prevent transgender students from playing sports with their friends. The campaign is supported by a coalition of LGBTQ+ aligned groups.
This position will report to the campaign manager and organizing manager. This position will require campaign hours, including evening and weekend work. Travel around the region will be required, so access to a reliable car and a valid drivers license are a must.
We are prioritizing candidates in the following regions: Spokane, Yakima/Tri-Cities, Vancouver/SW WA, Bellingham/Whatcom County, Olympia/Thurston County, Tacoma/Pierce County, and Everett/Snohomish County.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and execute volunteer opportunities in support of WFF’s decline to sign campaign strategy
- Organize and train volunteers to counter our opposition’s in-person signature gathering efforts with high safety standards
- Recruit and develop relationships with volunteers from endorsers and steering committee member organizations
- Move volunteers up the engagement ladder for further involvement, e.g. acting as a campaign spokesperson
- Communicate progress with the campaign manager and organizing manager
- Work with the existing database (EveryAction) to track volunteers, participation and maintain progress towards achieving organizing goals
- Serve as a point of contact for volunteers and campaign supporters
QUALIFICATIONS
Work, volunteer, academic, and life experiences are all acceptable
- Field organizing and/or volunteer management experience preferred
- Experience using the VAN database preferred
- Competency working with LGBTQ2S+ community and advocacy groups
- Quick problem-solving skills, a solution-oriented mindset, and ability to take and implement feedback
- Eagerness to get creative and try new approaches and tactics for volunteer recruitment and retention
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build trusting relationships with diverse stakeholders and effectively reflect coalition values
COMPENSATION
This position is part-time at 20 hours/week with a guaranteed contract through December 31, 2025 with the potential for continuing into next year based on campaign needs. Salary is $4,000 per month.
