HIM Product Manager Job Description

The HIM Product Manager is responsible for both product planning and product marketing. The HIM Product Manager will also be responsible for planning, leading, organizing, and motivating agile project teams to achieve a high level of performance and quality in delivering agile projects that provide exceptional business value to users. This includes managing the product throughout the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering while using agile methodology. It also includes working with sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The HIM Product Manager’s job also includes ensuring that the product and marketing efforts support the company’s overall strategy and goals.

Requirements

HIM Product Manager Job Duties:

  • Determines customers' needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain HIM market information.
  • Assesses HIM market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
  • Provides source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
  • Provides information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Define the product strategy and roadmap
  • Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities
  • Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples
  • Act as a leader within the company

Requirements

  • preferred Certifications include RHIT or RHIA CCS or AAPC for direct oversight of coding functions
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • 5+ years in leadership role with experience in the management of supervisors / leaders
  • Acute Care Facility HIM and / or Coding Department leadership experience, managing one or more functional areas of: HIM, Coding, or other management functions related to revenue cycle activities in a complex, multi - site environment
  • Experience consulting and project management experience in revenue cycle design and optimization
  • Must be able to travel 20% of the time
  • Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building
  • Proven ability to lead software development projects and ensure objectives, goals, and commitments are met
  • Basic understanding of and experience in using appropriate tools:
    • Agile Project Management tools such as Jira, Rally, VersionOne or equivalent
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level
