Join our client as an HR Assistant/Payroll Assistant- directly supporting the HR Manager up to $23 hourly Temp to Hire in the Medical Center area of San Antonio.
Position Overview:
The Human Resources Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting the HR department's daily operations. Under the supervision and direction of the HR Manager, this role will assist with various HR tasks, including candidate interviews, onboarding new employees, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and contribute to the success of the organization.
Essential Functions:
Assist in the recruiting process, including job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination.
Support sourcing passive candidates.
Maintain and update job descriptions and postings in the applicant tracking system (ATS).
Conduct reference checks and assist with candidate background checks.
Coordinate new hire orientation and ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
Create new hire announcements and set up profiles in the HR Information System (HRIS).
Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
Address frequently asked questions from applicants and employees and refer complex inquiries to appropriate senior HR staff or management.
Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of employee and HR files and records.
Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
Support the development, implementation, and improvement of a company-wide performance management system.
Assist in distributing HR policies and employee communications as directed by the HR Manager.
Provide clerical support to the HR department.
Assist in planning and executing special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, and employee recognition events.
Ensure staff compliance with corporate training, policies, procedures, and standards of behavior.
*Complete third-party payroll processor non-discrimination testing questionnaire at year-end andwhenever there are stock ownership changes.
*Prepare and submit 1094 and 1095 annual reporting with information provided by the third-party payroll processor.
*Coordinate special payroll processing with third-party payroll processor for bonuses and commissions occurring quarterly, semi-annually, annually and on demand depending on type of special pay .
*Reconcile hours in time and billing system to hours reported to the third-party payroll processor on amonthly basis to ensure all hours have been captured in payroll reporting and are accuratelycategorized.
*Compute special pay and related deductions related to benefits including imputed income for groupterm life insurance, long-term disability, telephone allowances, etc.
*Review premiums for long-term disability and employee group term life insurance for accuracy andprocess premium payments.

High school diploma
2+ years of human resources experience
Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
