| Job Summary | The Department of Horticulture is seeking a motivated Undergraduate Research Assistant for a project running from November 2025 through December 2026. This position offers hands-on training in horticultural genetics, genomics, and germplasm characterization, providing valuable experience in both laboratory and greenhouse/field environments. The student will contribute to ongoing crop improvement projects while building technical and analytical skills relevant to plant science careers and graduate study. Responsibilities:
This position is ideal for students interested in plant biology, genetics, biotechnology, or agricultural research, and offers an excellent opportunity to gain meaningful research experience in a supportive academic setting. |
| Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques (e.g., pipetting, sample preparation) is a plus. Interest in genetics, genomics, and crop improvement. Willingness to learn new skills and work as part of a collaborative research team. Basic computer skills for data entry and organization. |
