Description

Baylor University's Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics has two tenure-track positions available: one at the associate/full level (tenured), the other at the assistant/associate level (tenured or tenure track). All areas of teaching and research focus will be considered. We also have a clinical (non-tenure track) position in cybersecurity.

For the tenured position (associate/full), the department seeks to enhance the school’s standing and reputation with ambitious researchers who have sustained a record of publications in high-quality journals. Candidates should also be devoted to excellence in teaching and to mentoring PhD students and junior faculty. Candidates need to have a record of quality teaching and high-quality scholarship equivalent to our standards for tenure at Baylor University.

For the assistant/associate position, the department seeks to enhance the school’s standing and reputation with ambitious researchers who have initiated and/or sustained a record of publications in high-quality journals. Candidates should also be devoted to excellence in teaching with an interest in using technology in the classroom. Assistant professor candidates need to have demonstrated potential for quality teaching and publishing high-quality research relevant to the field. Candidates for associate professor need to have a record of quality teaching and high-quality scholarship equivalent to our standards for tenure at Baylor University. 

For the clinical position in cybersecurity we are looking for someone whose primary teaching responsibility will include courses that support our cybersecurity concentrations at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, the candidate should be able to teach introductory courses on information systems required among all business students. Candidates should be devoted to excellence in teaching.

The Hankamer School of Business (http://www.baylor.edu/business/) is AACSB accredited and home to the Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics (https://www.baylor.edu/business/isba/). The Information Systems and Business Analytics Department has 33 full-time faculty supporting three full-time MIS degrees (undergraduate MIS, MSIS, and PhD) as well as business school service courses in quantitative business analysis (QBA), MIS, and business communications. A new MS in Business Analytics degree, jointly sponsored by our department and the Department of Statistical Science will launch Summer 2023. Requirements

For the tenured/tenure-track positions, candidates should possess, or expect to earn before beginning their appointment, a doctorate in Information Systems or a closely related field. While prior industry experience is not mandatory, it is preferable. Along with these academic and professional credentials, applicants should have the ability to collaborate effectively with other faculty in a dynamic team-oriented educational environment. Finally, candidates should demonstrate a record of high-quality research or research promise.

For the clinical position in cybersecurity, candidates should possess, or expect to earn before beginning their appointment, at least a master’s degree in business or a closely related field. Those with a doctorate in Information Systems or a closely related field will also be considered with a slightly reduced teaching load to help support research activities. While prior industry experience is not mandatory, it is preferable. Along with these academic and professional credentials, applicants should have the ability to collaborate effectively with other faculty in a dynamic team-oriented educational environment. The normal teaching load for this position is four courses in both the fall and spring semesters. For clinical faculty on a research track, a one-course reduction during one semester is offered each year.
