Company Profile
Clark Fork Coalition
Company Overview
For three decades, the Clark Fork Coalition has worked to restore and sustain the Clark Fork and its tributaries, ensuring it can flow with clean, cold, and abundant waters for generations to come. We are science-based and community-driven, as evidenced by our genesis in 1985: dozens of community members banded together to stop a pulp and paper mill from dumping pollution into the Clark Fork River downstream of Missoula.
Since then, we’ve continued to apply scientific, technical, legal, and educational expertise to address the challenges faced by our rivers, as well as to advance the tremendous restoration opportunities now unfolding throughout the watershed.
Although the Clark Fork is a hard working river that bears the scars of a legacy of service – toxic mine waste, damaged stream banks, chronic de-watering, disconnected tributaries, and more – it’s decidedly a watershed on the upswing. It’s an exciting time to live, work, and play here.
