Accounts Receivable (AR) Manager – Higher Education

Full-Time | Up to $70,000 Annually
A respected higher education institution in Fairmont, WV is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable (AR) Manager to oversee and manage all student and organizational receivables. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate billing, timely collections, and strong financial controls within the institution.
The ideal candidate brings demonstrated AR experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to lead day-to-day receivables operations in a fast-paced, service-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all accounts receivable functions, including billing, posting payments, collections, and reconciliations
Oversee student account policies, payment plans, financial holds, and refund processes
Ensure compliance with institutional policies, state regulations, and federal guidelines
Monitor AR aging and implement effective follow-up strategies to reduce delinquency
Prepare AR reports, statements, and month-end financial summaries
Collaborate with financial aid, student services, and academic departments to resolve account issues
Lead daily workflow for AR staff and support a positive, service-oriented team culture
Assist in process improvement initiatives to strengthen AR operations and student experience
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
Prior experience in Accounts Receivable required; supervisory experience strongly preferred
Experience in higher education or a regulated environment is a plus
Strong knowledge of billing, collections, reconciliations, and AR reporting
Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication, customer service, and leadership skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines
Compensation & Schedule
Up to $70,000 annually, based on experience
Full-time, on-site position
