Description
JOB SUMMARY: This position serves as the confidential administrative assistant to the superintendent, board of directors, and cabinet. Work is performed under the supervision and guidance of the superintendent. Receives telephone calls and visitors; maintains superintendent’s calendar and schedule of appointments; relieves the superintendent of administrative and clerical details and prepares correspondence, board agendas, prepares policies, and memoranda; performs a variety of other administrative assistant duties. Provides guidance to board members on proper handling of constituent inquiries or obtains guidance from the superintendent. Is knowledgeable on the Open Public Meeting Act and supports the Board and superintendent on compliance.

Requirements
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Associates Degree or equivalent.
- Advance training in office professional procedures, two years post-secondary training OR five years of job experience in a responsible office professional position.
QUALIFICATIONS: skills/abilities test may be required
Knowledge of:
- Procedures, methods, strategies, and techniques pertaining to the operation of a superintendent’s office.
- Programs and operations related to educational software and use of district programs
- Legal mandates, policies, regulations, and procedures which govern the administrator's operational processes such as the Open Public Meetings Act, WSSDA Model Policies, state requirements
- Excellent grammar and English usage, proofing, spelling, and manuscript and report formatting.
- Effective and efficient communication techniques, strategies, and procedures.
- Conflict management best practice strategies
Ability to:
- Coordinate, organize and monitor the secretarial functions of the Superintendent's office.
- Effectively and efficiently perform highly responsible clerical, secretarial, and administrative aid functions and activities.
- Compile data and information, and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Communicate effectively in oral and written form.
- Establish and maintain a complex data management, storage, and retrieval system.
- Proficiently use all programs associated with Microsoft Office.
- Type or keyboard at a net corrected speed of 60 words per minute.
- Take and transcribe dictation to accurately and efficiently produce a variety of printed informational material and data.
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to work under pressure
- Interact with parents, staff, community and business members, political office representatives, personally, telephonically, and through electronic communications, in a warm, confident and proficient manner.
