- Assistant to the Certification Office
Description
The Assistant to the Certification Office supports the Julia S. Tutwiler College of Education Educator Preparation and Certification processes. Under the direction of the Certification Officer, the Assistant helps coordinate and administer daily certification and EPP activities, maintains accurate records, and communicates with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
Responsibilities:
- Record and track certification applications daily; maintain accurate logs and student files.
- Send application reminders and communicate next steps to students as needed.
- Assist with processing applications for admission to the Educator Preparation Program, internship eligibility, and graduation clearance.
- Assist with compiling data and preparing reports for internal use and external agencies.
- Perform routine clerical duties, including filing, scanning, copying, and document management.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff or faculty member.
- Work closely with online and residential admissions to support candidate progress and documentation needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Certification Officer.

Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of one year of office/administrative experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, and external constituencies.
- Accurate data entry/typing skills and attention to detail.
- Highly developed organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize deadlines, and follow procedures.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desired
- Bachelor's degree or two years of related college coursework.
- Experience working with student records, databases, or compliance documentation.
Prior to hiring, the final candidate(s) must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation, including information obtained from social media and other internet sources.
