Southern Illinois University Carbondale is an NCAA Division I member of the Missouri Valley and Missouri Valley Football Conferences. We are currently seeking to hire an Athletics Communications Associate.
Examples of Duties
- Oversee the live-event video production for Saluki Athletics, including SIU sporting events for in-venue video boards, television shows, and other lie events in athletic facilities.
- Serve as department liaison with ESPN and the Missouri Valley Conference for the department's 70 self-produced events.
- Assist in the creation of highlight videos, promos, web content, and special projects.
- Aid in the facilitating outside requests for media outlets to deliver high quality footage and highlights of current and former student-athletes and coaches.
- Assist in teaching and supervising student workers in all aspects of video production.
- Extremely short deadlines for the development of appropriate content for display on video boards.
- Athletic events production is a fast paced team-oriented environment where appropriate video production elements must be displayed in concert with a variety of other production elements within the University, Conference, and NCAA guidelines and regulations.
- Incumbent will also be required to manage and motivate student and volunteer staff to produce professional quality productions.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in journalism, sports communications, sports marketing, sports management, public relations, communications, English, or a related field.
2. One (1) year (12 months) of professional experience working in video services or closely related.
Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

About Civil Service Examination/Testing: The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of application materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, your application will move forward for examination/testing in which you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. This score will be emailed to the email address noted on your application. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.
