SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Infoship Clerk 2, is responsible for preparing, processing, and documenting outbound shipments in a warehouse environment. This role focuses on entering shipping information into carrier and warehouse systems, generating and verifying shipping labels, and making packaging decisions to ensure accurate, cost-effective, and compliant shipment of goods.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Enter shipment details into shipping and warehouse management system (WMS), including weights, dimensions, carrier selection, and service levels.
- Generate, review, and apply shipping labels, packing slips, and related documentation.
- Determine appropriate packaging methods and materials based on product type, size, weight, and shipping requirements.
- Determine shipping priorities and make decisions based on knowledge of customers.
- Ensure packages meet carrier, customer, and company guidelines for packaging and labeling.
- Verify shipment accuracy against orders prior to release.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff, supervisors, and carriers to resolve shipping issues or discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and documentation.
- Assist with daily shipping volume, deadlines, and priorities.
- Follow all warehouse safety and quality procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
POSITION SPECIFICS:
- This is a full-time position.
- Shift start/stop times may vary depending on department and business needs. Initial schedules are not guaranteed to be permanent. Any changes will be communicated with at least two weeks' notice. Typical shifts are 8 hours but may require overtime as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position does not have any leadership requirements and/or responsibilities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in a warehouse, shipping, or logistics environment preferred.
- Proficiency with shipping software and systems (e.g., UPS, FedEx, USPS, or similar platforms).
- Strong computer literacy, data entry skills with attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of packaging standards and shipping best practices.
- Ability to make sound packaging decisions to prevent damage and control shipping costs.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Candidate must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with ability to: stand for long periods of time; ability to become certified (if operating equipment); constantly move about the warehouse; pulling/pushing a cart containing cartons; bend/stoop/kneel/crouch to handle product; regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds; the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations; and the ability to observe details at close range (within a few feed of the observer). The work environment is often noisy with honking from passing forklifts and experiences hot/cold temperature fluctuations due to outside weather.
