GMC has a great opportunity for a skilled and confident Construction Administrator to manage a wide range of construction and financial responsibilities in the Engineering (Water & Municipal) Department of our Montgomery, AL office. The Construction Administrator will monitor projects prior to and through the construction phase. This position includes working with clients, engineers, contractors, consultants and other staff to ensure that projects progress in a timely manner and meets GMC's standards. We're looking for a detail-oriented and extremely organized professional who can not only manage daily operations but also provide valuable insight to support growth and improvement of our construction engineering team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Experience managing bookkeeping for projects
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and awareness of plans and specifications, as well as the General Conditions of contracts
- Lead the Post-Bid Phase effort, including managing pre-construction meetings, review of substitution requests, and review of insurance and bidding requirement compliance.
- Review/evaluate contractor's project schedules and schedule of values
- Review contractor pay requests for accuracy and manage grant draw submittals
- Manage and delegate appropriately the RFI and submittal process
- Attend construction meetings and OAC meetings as required
- Review construction field reports
- Evaluate Change Orders and provide back-up documentation for adjustments
- Provide formal punch lists
- Coordinate close out process including as built350/record documents; gather information and document substantial completion, final completion and warranty dates.
- Provide quality assurance reviews on construction documents prepared by others
- Demonstrates thorough understanding of regulatory requirements from different local, regional, state and federal agencies
- Recognizes and reports risk management issues to Lead Engineers
- Conduct Monthly analytics with billing to determine allocation of personnel
Minimum Qualifications:
- Min. 5 years of relevant experience; Preferred >10 yrs.
- Bachelors Degree or Associates Degree related to business, finance, accounting or construction
- Ability to utilize effective conflict resolution skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to confidently and decisively take action
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage all aspects of projects, clients and key staff
- Ability to review budgets, construction schedules and submittal schedules
- Proficient in MS Office
- Valid Driver's license and acceptable driving record
