Coordination of wellness care and education can positively impact student health outcomes on campus and support overall student success. This position has an important role in supporting students' care through educational programs and outreach, which are delivered through a variety of formats, in individual and group sessions. This individual in this role will initiate the design and delivery of educational programs and initiatives related to student and community wellness, as well as collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve a holistic approach. This 10-month full-time position will require evening and weekend hours.
Responsibilities:
- Create and deliver programming on a range of health and wellness topics including, but not limited to:
- Self-care, mindfulness, and healthy relationships
- Stress reduction, anxiety, depression
- Nutrition, healthy eating, and sleep hygiene
- Prevention education (i.e., suicide, sexual assault, dating violence)
- Alcohol/Other Drugs
- Monitor and manage the referrals to counseling services in Starfish
- Support students' engagement with appropriate care services.
- Collaborate with clinical or other support staff in the Health & Wellness Center to ensure a seamless continuum of care.
- Provide direct oversight to the Oasis and other associated wellness spaces.
- Supervise the Oasis student staff and peer educators.
- Coordinate programming with other campus stakeholders (student engagement, residential life, athletics, student senate, etc.).
- Engage in or present at various college wide programs, such as the First Year Experience and new student programming.
- Collaborate with relevant community organizations to deliver services and information.
- Develop and regularly disseminate print and digital content designed to educate and empower students to make healthy choices.
- Evaluate and create reports on the scope & effectiveness of programming and outreach
- Participate in relevant college committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of Health and Wellness Services.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- Passionate and knowledgeable about health education
- Must feel comfortable presenting to a variety of audiences
- Organized and enjoys event planning
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with others
- Ability to work with diverse student populations
- Ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of wellness programming
- Experience with working in a higher education setting
