Description
The Development Manager will support the Director of Development and Communications in increasing our community relationships, securing and maintaining funding for the ReMerge program. The Development Manager supports ReMerge’s mission fundraising, donor stewardship, grant management, and community engagement. This role manages the eTapestry donor database, ensures accurate donor records, generates reports, and analyzes data to inform strategy. Responsibilities include preparing grant applications, managing reporting timelines, coordinating stewardship activities, crafting impact stories, and organizing fundraising and cultivation events. Additionally, this position represents ReMerge at public speaking engagements, conferences, and community events. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and an effective communicator with a passion for building relationships and driving fundraising success.

Essential Functions:
- Managing and maintaining eTapestry donor database in order to have detailed records on donor history and relations. Mine donor data from eTapestry and build eTapestry queries and reports.
- Prepare and submit grant applications as outlined in the fund development plan.
- Solicit sponsorships for events and provide support to Communications & Volunteer Coordinator as needed for in kind donation request.
- Manage grant records by maintaining paper files, scanning documents to electronic drives, researching and identifying prospective grant opportunities, and updating grants calendar.
- Provide all support, research, and reports needed to ensure the stewardship plan is successful by logging donations received, creating an online/physical donation record, creating and mailing thank you letters/tax receipts in a timely fashion.
- Understanding of institutional history and programs, and craft stories for multiple uses. Responsible for pulling data for grant writing and reporting, annual appeal, annual report and other reports as identified by executive team.
- Plan, schedule, and organize events for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors, community partners, and stakeholders, the annual Faces of ReMerge Luncheon, special events, and tours.
- Represent ReMerge and its mission through public speaking engagements, information tables at conferences, and community events as needed. Serve as the primary point of contact for United Way, Heart of the City and other charitable campaign events, ensuring ReMerge’s active participation, visibility, and engagement.
- Identify opportunities to highlight stories from participants to increase awareness and increase donor base.
- Perform other duties as needed to support successful resource development efforts and organization-wide initiatives, adapting to evolving priorities and contributing to team success.

Skills and Requirements:
- Knowledge and skill in the full grant writing process, including researching funding opportunities, writing proposals, and managing submission timelines.
- Knowledge of fundraising strategies and event planning, including coordinating donor events and campaigns to drive financial support for the organization.
- Proficiency in database entry, report building, and donor management software (e.g., eTapestry) preferred.
- Excellent word processing, data entry, and internet research abilities.
- Ability to collect, track, verify, analyze, and interpret data to produce actionable insights and materials.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to work independently with focus, accountability, and follow-through on plans.
- Effective team collaboration skills, with the ability to take direction from multiple staff members.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and build professional relationships with staff, program participants, community partners, and stakeholders.
- Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage shifting priorities effectively. Ability to engage with culturally diverse populations in a sensitive, respectful, and inclusive manner.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience in resource development, including fundraising, grant writing, and donor engagement.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- While performing this work the staff will spend time sitting, standing, speaking, and listening. Must regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Must have the dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. The employee must have the visual acuity to read and draft reports, memos, letters, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the employee to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently; must be able to hear, speak and communicate clearly. The employee will work in a smoke-free environment.

Electronic Equipment Requirements
- Cell phone and data package is required for this position. Employees must have a working cell phone and provide their number to the supervisor and relevant staff. Data package must be available as needed for work purposes.
- Must be digitally literate and proficient in Microsoft Office; must be able to learn and demonstrate proficiency in digital tracking, and calendaring; must be able to operate standard office equipment.
