Position Title: Work Study - Student Financial Services Assistant# of Positions to Fill: 2
Department/Program: Financial Aid 55000
Work Location Authorization: Hybrid On-Site/Remote
Campus Location: Arapahoe Campus
Reports to: Assistant Director, Student Financial Services
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly
FTE: 25% (10 hrs/week)
Compensation: $18.00 - $18.00 per hour

Job Summary: The Student Financial Services Assistant is responsible for providing peer and administrative support in the Student Financial Services department, as well as, providing exceptional customer service to students and families during the financial aid and billing lifecycle.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
• Assist students with general questions pertaining to their financial aid, student account, and student budgeting via zoom, phone calls, and emails.
• Host general financial aid information sessions and participate in student-facing events.
• Review incoming financial aid documents and scholarship applications for completeness.
• Perform file scanning, data entry, and document tracking in student data system
• Assist with email communications and student reminders.
• Perform outreach via phone and emails when needed.
• Create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
• Maintain basic understanding of university policy and procedure, regularly handle confidential information and maintain confidentiality of all student records and interactions in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
• Student must be offered federal or state work study hours by Financial Aid in order to fill this position.
• Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word, in particular).
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and the ability to use a standard office calculator.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• All job candidates must demonstrate an appropriate level of understanding of and appreciation for the values of Naropa University and the capacity to demonstrate an integration and embodiment of these values as evidenced in work, communication, collaboration styles, and other general workplace behaviors.
Preferred Requirements:
• Familiarity with student information systems.
• Previous customer service experience.
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
During regular daily activities, employee must be able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation: lift up to 15 pounds, stand, walk, sit, handle/finger, bend at the waist, reach above shoulder level and interruptions/distractions.
Naropa recognizes the following holidays throughout the year: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fall Break, 4th Thursday and Friday in November, and Winter Break, the last two weeks in December encompassing the Christmas holiday as well as New Year's.
Naropa's health and welfare benefits include the following: medical, dental, vision, FSA, HSA, employer-paid short-term and long-term disability, employer-paid life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment, an employer-sponsored pre-tax retirement savings plan, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching, and a variety of voluntary, employee-paid supplemental insurance plans.
A comprehensive benefits package is available to full-time employees who work a minimum of 30 hours each week. Employees who work 20 - 29 hours each week are eligible for only the employer-paid short-term & long-term disability, employer-paid life insurance & accidental death and dismemberment, and the retirement plan, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching.
Employees who work fewer than 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in Naropa's retirement plan only, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching.
All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits. Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
