Description
The Floodplain Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing the city’s floodplain-related activities including all aspects of the city’s participation in the FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Community Rating System (CRS). This position ensures development compliance with federal, state, and local floodplain regulations, and works to mitigate flood risks. The Floodplain Coordinator will collaborate with local agencies, developers, engineers, and community members to enhance floodplain management practices and increase the community’s CRS rating. The ideal candidate will have expertise in floodplain management, the NFIP, CRS regulations, and experience working with local government officials and residents to implement flood risk mitigation.

Requirements
Some college supplemented by three (3) to five (5) years’ experience performing similar duties; or any acceptable related combination of training and experience.
Must possess certification as a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) or have the ability to obtain the certification within six (6) months of hire.
Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
