About the District:
The Grinnell-Newburg Community School District, located an hour from Des Moines or Iowa City, serves approximately 1,750 students in 4 schools: Fairview Elementary, Bailey Park Elementary , Grinnell Middle School and Grinnell High School. Voters recently approved PPEL funding for a new comprehensive elementary school, consolidating all elementary students into one facility, with long-range plans being done to update all district facilities.
Grinnell schools offer a wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities, including a dedicated agriculture program and an outstanding family and consumer sciences program. Students excel in the fine arts, debate, and STEM fields, with participation in MathCounts and the SheCounts Math Club.
Position Purpose:
To inspire, lead, guide and direct every member of the administrative, instructional, and supportive services teams in setting and achieving the highest standards of excellence in developing and maintaining the best possible educational programs and services, so that each individual student enrolled in the school district will be provided with a complete, valuable, meaningful, and personally rewarding education.
To oversee and administer the use of all school district facilities, property, and funds with to ensure that those resources are utilized in an appropriate manner.
Qualifications:
- Holds Iowa superintendent licensure (or plans to obtain licensure)
- Holds an evaluator approval certification
- Bachelor's Degree and Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in School Administration
- Master’s plus 30 or Doctoral Degree preferred
- Extensive successful teaching experience, preferably in more than one grade level
- Extensive successful administration experience, preferably both as a school building and central office administrator (at least three years)
- Strong Iowa finance background preferred
- Proven school improvement experience preferred
- Willingness to reside and be visible in the district preferred
