GYMNASTICS COORDINATOR 1

| Hourly Wage: | $19.47-$28.22 hourly (Depending on experience and qualifications) |
Nature of Work
Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor-Gymnastics, this position is responsible for organizing and
conducting all recreation programs, as well as instructing classes while supporting the Gymnastics
Supervisor with administrative duties.
Essential Functions
Coordinate and promote recreation programs, including camps.
Responsible for teaching recreation classes.
Must possess a highly defined focus towards both internal and external guest service.
Coordinate class and staff schedules with Supervisor and Team Coordinator.
Responsible for development of program curriculum.
Teach recreation groups through all rotations that are considered safe by current standards.
Explain and demonstrate age appropriate gymnastics skills.
Observe and assist participants in acquiring new skills.
Set up equipment specific to each class.
Check equipment and gym regularly to ensure a safe environment for participants.
Maintain accurate records of participants' attendance, payment, and progress.
Report accidents and injuries that occur during class Administer first-aid as necessary.
Inform parents of program policies and information.
Assist the Recreation Supervisor- Gymnastics by providing input for classes and camps for District's seasonal programming, budget, and marketing.
Attend trainings, clinics, and conferences to learn new or different ideas.
Find substitutes for classes when not available.
Organize and maintain the gym.
Answer phones and return messages as needed.
Responsible for preparing all administrative paperwork for the recreation program.
Management & Supervisory Duties
Oversees activities and actions of program participants.
Assist in finding substitutes for staff absences.
Illustrative Examples of Duties
Set up and clean up for daily circuits or classes.
Record attendance and progression of participants.
Perform all required duties in a timely manner as assigned.
Check equipment and conduct inventory on a regular basis to ensure a safe environment for class participants.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong customer service orientation.
Skills, as applicable, to assist participants, including extended periods of standing and stabilizing others.
Knowledge & Abilities
Expert knowledge of modern principles, instructional methods, practices, equipment, and techniques relating to the functional areas of responsibility.
Thorough knowledge of applicable class curriculum and/or lesson plans.
Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
Ability to transfer knowledge of specialized area to class participants.
Ability to instruct participants properly and safely to reach goal.
Ability to perform work in an indoor environment with frequent interruptions and distractions.

Requirements
REQUIRED TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Level 1
- Safety training through USAG, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- CPR/AED and First-Aid Certification, or have the ability to obtain within six months of employment
- 0-3 years experience with gymnastics and other programs as a judge or participant or in another capacity that results in hands-on knowledge of the sport.
- 0-3 years experience instructing specified course level hired to teach.
Level 2
- Four (4) year degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Early Childhood Education, or equivalent education and experience.
- KAT Safety Certification through USAG or equivalent
- MELPD through USAG
- Five (5) years program coordination experience
- Five (5) years coaching experience
