What You'll Do
You'll be a key member of our HR and Professional Talent team, supporting a wide range of activities across the employee lifecycle:
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Assist with recruitment: job postings, sourcing, interview coordination, and offer letters.
Conduct pre-screening interviews and complete employment verifications.
Assess recruitment needs and help build career pathways across departments.
Attend job fairs and represent the firm with professionalism and enthusiasm.
Maintain and optimize recruitment data and systems.
Onboarding, Offboarding & Employee Experience
- Coordinate and continuously improve onboarding.
Develop reports on onboarding status, learning and growth programs, and recruitment initiatives.
Support a smooth employee experience from onboarding to daily operations and events.
Assist with engagement activities, trainings, and events.
HR Operations & Systems
- Provide assistance with various other HR admin duties as required.
Maintain and update employee records.
Assist in policy development and updates to job descriptions.
Ensure compliance with employment standards and data protection protocols.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee data.
Track and report on HR metrics.
Produce expense reports.
Update systems, templates, policies, and data regularly.
Maintain clean and accurate data in our HRIS (UKG) and propose improvements to tools and processes.
Administrative HR and Event Planning Support:
- Arranges and coordinates meetings and room booking, including leadership meetings.
Registers lawyers for training, conferences, and supports membership renewals.
Assists with departmental budget tracking and financial expenditures.
Document filing and reporting in accordance with the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society requirements.
Assisting with event planning, firm socials, lunch and learns, and other events.
Sending out clerk, student and associate availability emails, posting schedules/vacation tables, and maintaining appropriate records.
Performance, Succession & Culture
- Assist in developing and coordinating the performance management process for the administrative support team.
Produce performance data and support succession planning initiatives.
Contribute to preserving and enhancing our culture.
Health, Safety & Wellness
- Assist in coordinating health and safety meetings, inspections, and ergonomics initiatives.
Support OH&S expense tracking and wellness activities.

Requirements
What You'll Bring
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or equivalent.
2-5 years of experience in a similar HR role; experience in a legal firm is an asset.
Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Experience with HRIS platforms (UKG is an asset) and a passion for clean, accurate data.
Excellent communication skills, clear, friendly, and professional.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
A proactive mindset with a love for solving problems and improving processes.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
