- Pet Support Coordinator
Description
The Pet Support Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for individuals seeking to surrender their pet to Oakland Animal Services (OAS). This role is responsible for carefully triaging each case to determine urgency for intake, as the shelter can only accommodate a limited number of animals.
The coordinator will help owners resolve issues that may allow them to keep their pets by connecting them to available resources. For situations in which surrender is the only viable option, the coordinator will work with shelter staff (Public Service Representatives) to schedule intake appointments in alignment with shelter capacity and protocols.
When capacity allows, the coordinator will also assist the Public Service Representatives with lost pet reunification for animals who arrive at the shelter as strays/lost.
This position is an OAS staff role, funded by Friends of Oakland Animal Services (FOAS).
