Friends of Sherrod Brown Communications Department is seeking a dedicated and driven Press Secretary to join our team. This role is a great opportunity to gain principal management skills, on the road experience, and work directly with the Ohio press corps.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with the Ohio press corps to serve as the key point of contact for in-state press
- Staff and advise Sherrod Brown on the campaign trail at events across the state
- Assist in the planning and execution of campaign media events, including prepping and staffing campaign surrogates
- Draft press releases, talking points, memos, and other external and internal campaign communications materials
- Pitch Sherrod Brown for press in-state and nationally
- Occasionally serve as an on the record spokesperson for the campaign
- Other responsibilities as needed

Compensation: $6,500 - $7,000

Requirements
Qualifications
- 2 cycles of campaign communications experience, or a relevant equivalent
- Strong ability to write and edit materials on a tight deadline
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail, an ability to work under tight deadlines
- On the record experience with reporters preferred
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new things
