- Senior Permit Technician
Description
The Senior Permit Technician postion is expected to perform roles in the office and in the field on a daily basis based on workload and demands. This Postion is trained to perform residential combination inspections in the field, as well as Permitting Administrative work in the office, and will perform light Plan Reviews on Residential alterations, roof, window, siding, and other small permit applications on a daily basis.
Requirements
Serves as a lead worker by monitoring, coordinating, and reviewing the work of one or more Permit Technicians; recommends, updates and implements office policies and procedures for areas of assignment; monitors office productivity and documents work activities; performs the more complex technical duties pertaining to the administration of building permits.
Leads and administers departmental office activities; coordinates the scheduling of construction inspections, the development, and maintenance of departmental files, the purchase of office supplies, the processing of mail, the submission of payroll and personnel-related documents and the preparation of accounts payable invoices; monitors and tracks expenditures in accordance with the current department budget; maintains accounting records in the county financial system; maintains and balances office petty cash funds.
Leads and coordinates the processing of building permit applications and ensures the completeness of required intake documentation required for permit submittal such as soils reports, site plans, and approved drawings; verifies that administrative approvals have been obtained and that plans are appropriately signed.
Performs skilled technical building inspection duties pertaining to structural, mechanical, plumbing, and other general construction areas to enforce building codes and ordinances; inspects buildings, equipment, and materials during construction, repair, or remodeling for compliance with applicable building codes and ordinances.
Checks and reviews plans submitted by contractors, building owners, or other parties for conformance with regulations, laws, ordinances, and codes and/or to detect any discrepancy between the plans and the finished building; assists in reviewing and approving building permit requests.
Inspects buildings being considered for remodeling or repair to determine the adequacy of existing systems or reconstruction; orders revisions to plans for such improvements as necessary.
