Position Summary
The Systems Administrator is responsible for the oversight of servers, peripherals, directories, phones, and other hardware and software ancillary products related to any of the systems. This role is a member of the Information Technology team and will participate in the off hours on-call as needed, development projects, and upgrades.
This position projects a positive and friendly image for the credit union through interactions with members and co-workers. This is a full-time position M-F during business hours at our Marshfield Branch.
- Monitors and maintains systems’ performance and capacity, reports changes in usage to the VP of IT.
- Forecasts system demands, recommends upgrades, expansion, and reconfiguration.
- Troubleshoots hardware and software problems, takes appropriate corrective action and/or interacts with IT staff or vendors in performing complex testing, support and troubleshooting functions.
- Test programs and databases and make necessary modifications.
- Approve, schedule, plan and execute installation and testing of upgrades and/or new products.
- Knowledge of computer system operation, including all computer room hardware and peripheral equipment.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor procedures and policies as they relate to server infrastructure.
- Assists with overall network security.
- Participate in site set-up, user training, hardware/software installation, maintenance and support and documentation of hardware/software logs and operating procedures. This would include PC builds.
- Coordinates basic user administration (adds, changes, deletes, disk space management, backups, and file restore).
- Provides technical guidance and IT-related solutions and assists in training of less experienced administrators or other staff, as appropriate.
- May act as a project manager for major projects; depicts highly complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences. Communicates project objectives, scope and direction across project teams.
- Is part of the Incident Response Team.
- Continually learn and stay current with technology trends, network with peers inside and outside the Credit Union, and apply knowledge to recommend system improvements.
- Reinforce continuous collaboration and respectful communication between all departments by promoting strong, positive and productive working relationships through commitment to the company’s core values, vision and mission statements.
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline and 5 years of experience in systems operation and administration, or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred.
- 5 years’ experience in VMWare required.
- Exceptional analytical skills with a strong attention to detail, ability to plan, prioritize and organize work effectively and efficiently.
- Must be friendly and able to represent the Credit Union in a professional and positive manner.
