Platt College, a premier education group in Southern California, is conducting a search for a Director of Financial Aid to add to the Financial Aid Department. The position would be located at the Anaheim, California Campus of Platt College. The selected candidate will be expected to work on campus to support students, collaborate with campus leadership, and oversee the daily operations of the Financial Aid Department.
The Director of Financial Aid will provide direction and leadership for the Financial Aid Department. The Director of Financial Aid will manage the Financial Aid Department with a special emphasis on compliance with federal regulations, school policy and service to the students.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assure that the FA team is in compliance with Federal, State and college’s rules and regulations
- Develop objectives to achieve long range goals within the FA budget, prepare reports as necessary
- Counsel students and parents regarding financial plan / eligibility, and provide that all students (new, re-entry, and continuing) are aware of and have planned for their financial obligations to the school as well as other financial aid providers
- Insure that all financial assistance programs available in the school are in compliance with all applicable regulations. Research and develop additional financial aid resources
- Coordinate interoffice functions within FA (data entry, planning, etc.) as well as between FA and other departments (Admissions, Student Services, Education, Student Accounting, Registrar, etc.)
- Demonstrate proficiency in timely collections (for the entire FA Office)
- Maintain consistently organized files shown through Training Assessments for Compliance with Federal/State regulations and school policies and procedures (for the entire FA Department)
- Ensure excellent customer service and professionalism to all current students, prospective students and co workers in all departments at all time
- Perform special projects as assigned
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with the budget process as well as an overview of A/R and A/P
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated Leadership Ability
- Superior organizational and problem resolution skills
- Strong basic computer software (MS Office) skills as well as exposure to specific financial aid software programs such as CampusVue, SAINT, WebGrants, and NSLDS.
Credentials and Experience:
- Associate’s degree is required, Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred
- A minimum of three years of recent experience as a Director of Financial Aid is required, preferably in a post-secondary institution
- In depth knowledge of principles, practices, methodology, and procedures for the provision of student financial aid
- Knowledge of college’s policies pertaining to the provision of student financial aid
Special Requirements:
- Flexible Schedule - may include work in evenings, weekends or holidays
- Attendance at the Platt College Graduation Ceremony required
